Question for today–What other God is like our God? Other is today’s Five-Minute-Friday writing prompt. My timer is set. Here we go.
Do you ever play the comparison game? If so, you know it leaves you feeling one of two ways: either less than enough, or like you’re all that and a bag of chips. Right? The Bible tells us, though, we are not compare ourselves to others. Yet, there is One we are to compare – God himself.
Here are some of the examples from the Bible:
“For who is God besides the Lord? And who is The Rock except our God?” Psalm 18:31
“Who is like the Lord our God, the one who sits enthroned on high?” Psalm 113:5
“Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the Lord , He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.” Deuteronomy 4:39
You can even find responses from God Himself, such as,
“I am the Lord God, and there is no other; apart from Me there is no God.” Isaiah 45:5
What examples do you have of how He is set apart?
I can point to the things in my own life that set him apart. Things that affirm to me there is no other like Him. What other God can hold my heart, like when my mother died? What other God rescues from fire? Who else can provide in perfect timing when we just don’t see a solution? Is there any other comfort when suffering miscarriage? Who else is the very strength that helps you endure chronic, lifelong situations that would wear you thin left to yourself?
Because of his goodness to me, I can declare that there is no other God like our God. No one else who can save. No one who can not only met my needs, but goes way past that to fulfill the desires of my heart.
Compare Him today. “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8
