*Pause* – oh, what a great word – pause. For days, I’ve heard its whispers calling me – enticing me come closer. Yet, it seemed out of reach. Each time I reached towards its embrace, my fingers fell short of the button as my circumstances won the battle for my attention. Oh, that I could resist the pull of the urgent and push that button.
For about a month, my husband and I have lived amidst the scurry of selling and buying a home. It has been a blur of completing projects, talking to lenders and realtors, constant cleaning, and searching the web for our new abode.
Last weekend, I knew I needed rest. I longed to take my usual Sunday off and spend it quietly with my Love from Above. Nope – didn’t happen. Our offer on a home fell through. Ugh! Due to the 30-day timeframe for us to find a home, we met with our realtor immediately to see more homes.
Could you use a pause button right now? Keep reading . . .
God’s whisper to me grew louder today as I read the passage below. It’s Isaiah 43:1-5 (NIV).
1 But now, this is what the Lord says—He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. . .
4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you…
This passage is God’s encouragement to not fear. Yet, it is exactly the words I need. It’s a reminder of how much He loves me and is always with me.
I encourage you, dear friends, press pause today. Trust Him to work out all the details of life. You are redeemed. You are precious in His sight, He loves you, and He is with you. So, shake off your heavy chains and rest in the Father’s love.
