"My goal is that [you] may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that [you] may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that [you] may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ." Colossians 2:2
Did you love sleepovers as a kid? I know I did. However, that’s not the case for every child. For some, the thought of mom and dad not being right down the hall is too overwhelming.
As a kid, you want to know mom and dad aren’t far. You want to know that when needed, they will come rushing into your room — your space — and rescue you from whatever situation is causing emotional distress. A sleepover creates a distance that feels unsafe.
In truth, though, there is no distance too far to keep a parent from coming to the rescue of their child, right? I would do everything in my power to help them in a time of need. That’s what parents do.
Is God’s love for His children any different? No, in fact, our love for our kids is a representation of God’s love of His children — us. We are never too far that He can’t come rescue us. No obstacle is big enough to stop Him. Let it try!
Do you know that? I mean, really know that deep in your heart? My prayer for you today can be found in Ephesians 3:17-18.
“I pray that you … may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…”
It’s higher than we can imagine. It’s deeper than we can measure. It is overwhelming and never-ending.
When is the last time you experienced love like that? How long has it been since you’ve felt loved beyond measure?
You don’t have to wait any longer. He’s right beside you, waiting to envelope you in His arms. Go ahead. Run to Him and the safety of His arms.
